The Philippine Embassy booth at the Lamsit Hanan Development Charity Bazaar at the Sheraton Damascus Hotel headed by Chargée d’affaires Vida Soraya Verzosa with Damascus PE personnel
Damascus, Syria- The Philippine Embassy in Damascus, Syria participated in the Lamsit Hanan Development Charity three-day Bazaar from 20 to 22 November 2021 at the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus. Charitable societies, small business enterprises and a number of Syrian companies showcased their local products such as hand-made crafts made of wool, wood and others, tapestries, accessories, clothes, jams and other food materials.
The aim of the bazaar is to give spaces for participants particularly traders who lost their shops with the current economic crisis situation in Syria and to introduce them to the public. It is also an opportunity for social communications between companies and members of society to support the owners of micro-enterprises and encourage them to work.
The bazaar was attended by members of diplomatic corps, foreigners, students, Syrian officials, and various media personalities.
Syrian and foreign guests visited the Philippine Embassy booth
The Philippine Embassy booth showcased the Inabel handwoven crafts of the Ilocanos in the North Luzon, which was the main inquiry of guests at the bazaar, tourist destination brochures as give-aways while various Philippine products such as dried mangoes, banana chips, capiz shell items, pearl jewelry, art batik, crispy jackfruit and coconut, mango butterscotch, chocolate polvoron, Batangas coffee and Abaca purses were offered for sale. The Embassy also shared its booth with members of the Filipino Community who were interested to sell their cooked-food products such as empanada, spring rolls, Chicken Adobo, bottled atsara andadobong mani, in order to have extra income while working in Syria.
The Philippine booth received more than a hundred of Syrian and foreign guests. The visitors were mostly businessmen who expressed their interest in the Filipino food products that were displayed in the booth. Most of them signified their interest in importing products to Syria, while many other visitors inquired about tourism. The PH Embassy was among one of the most visited booths during the event and ninety percent of its products were sold.

The proceeds of the bazaar will support Lamsit Hanan’s Charity Center that supports hundreds of displaced families, orphans, poor, students and kidney patients. END.
